Projects I'm In

The Pernell Reichert Band

What I Do

I've been playing bass with The Pernell Reichert Band since 2012. We play in pretty much every pub, club, cafe, diner and bistro in Western Canada.

I am also currently producing next Pernell Reichert Band studio album (due summer, 2016).

About

Pernell Reichert is a singer, songwriter and fast finger-picking guitar player from Vancouver BC, Canada. His songs reflect his experiences on the road of life and the highways of the world. As a solo artist, Pernell's style of guitar playing has been described as high energy with fast finger-picking numbers that keep the listener intrigued. Whether the venue is a small coffee shop, a fine dining restaurant with mood music, or a hopping loud bar looking for a foot tapping good evening of dancing and entertainment, Pernell adapts his repertoire to his surroundings and audience. His choice of acoustic guitar for those quiet self-written ballads, electric slide guitar for fabulous musical entertainment, or the banjo that will surely get your toe tapping - you are guaranteed to be entertained by his musical talent

East Van Grass

What I Do

East Van Grass started as a side project of, and have been opening for, The Pernell Reichert Band since around 2013.

I play guitar and do most of the singing with East Van Grass. Sometimes, I also play a stomp box.

I produced our debut album "East Van Grass" which is available now!!

About

Combining old-time traditional bluegrass and the just as old-time traditional hillcountry blues of north Mississippi, East Van Grass has been getting folks dancing, hollering and having a good time all over western Canada since late 2013. Their style is said to be a high energy mix of R.L. Burnside, Kenny Brown, Earl Scruggs and Bill Keith.

We call it Hillcountry boot stompin blue(s) grass!

The band was formed by Ross and Pernell in 2012 and have been opening for The Pernell Reichert Band all over Western Canada.

Leah Barley and The Converse Cowboys

What I Do

I've been working with Leah since 2013. When she plays the guitar, I play the banjo. When she plays banjo, I play the guitar!

We tour all over Western Canada and are looking to get out to Ontario in the fall of 2016

We are currently in the studio recording Leah's next album (due summer 2016).

About

Vancouver based bluesy-folk singer/songwriter Leah Barley was born in Saskatchewan, raised in Newmarket, Ontario, and spent the summers barefoot and surrounded by music at her family cottage on Moon River in Muskoka. It wasn't until she moved to Canmore, Alberta in her early twenties that she experienced and fell in love with bluegrass and old tyme country music. After buying herself a banjo she was writing and performing at open mics within two months and has been on a roll ever since.

The Glenn Chatten Band

What I Do

I met Glenn at Trees (Vancouver, BC) back in 2010 when I worked there as the house sound guy. I've been collaborating with him ever since.

Currently, I play bass with him and have in the past played banjo, ukelele, harmonium and probably guitar.

I'm on several of Glenn's latest albums including "Live At The Gensis Theatre" and his latest "Liminal" which we recorded in the historic St. Andrew's-Wesley church in downtown Vancouver.

About

Glenn is a highly respected and established singer/songwriter in Vancouver, with over thirty years of experience as an uniquely phenomenal finger-style acoustic guitarist, touring Canadian performer, songwriter, producer and recording artist. He is the co-founder and has been the Artistic Director of JoyFest which, for the past five years, showcases over twenty local Vancouver Folk Singers over a three day event. He is the Musical Director of the long running Vancouver Youth Theatre and is also a member of S.A.C. (Songwriters Association of Canada).
